Located in the very heart of South America, join a Bolivia adventure tour to discover it’s extremely varied rugged landscapes, diverse climates and its Colonial villages. Our Bolivia Essential tour allows you to discover the city of La Paz, Sucre, Potosi, and Uyuni with the most surreal salt flat.

Day 1: Puno, Copacabana, Sun Island, La Paz

At 06:30 am our customers are collected from their hotels to be transferred to Copacabana. You must present your passport and migration card (pre-checking). At 07:00 am arrive to Kasani, (border PERU-BOLIVIA), checking of your passport and migration card at the migrations office in both countries. Then you continue 20 min more until your arrival to Copacabana, about 12:00 pm (Bolivian time). Where our local guide is waiting for you, to start with a guided visit to the Sanctuary of Copacabana. Then lunch in the Village. At 13:30 our private boat leaves towards Sun Island, where we will visit to the southern part of the Sun Island (1h 45 min to 2 hour visit). Once on the island, we walk 30 min to the archaeological center Pilkokaina ruins of a mysterious sacred place dedicated to the worship of Inti the “Sun God” and the maximum Inca divinity. Afterwards we will go down the Inca Trail (stone steps), until you reach the “fountain of youth”. From here you can appreciate a beautiful landscape of the Lake Titicaca and its surroundings. Returns to Copacabana, arrival at 18:00, at 18:30pm depart from Copacabana to La Paz (3hrs and 30 min journey), arrival to La Paz and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Half day at your own hand, in the afternoon city tours in La Paz

At 14:00 our guide will meet you at your hotel. The tours begin, descending about ten kilometers downhill. Near the residential neighborhoods of La Paz you will find the bizarre Moon Valley, an area formed by the work of the erosion of millions of years. In the area you will see canyons and curious pinnacles composed mainly of clay and sandstone. After a short walk, we continue with our transportation to one of the Cable car stations, from where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the glacier-capped Andes mountains ascending almost half a kilometer up to the cliff-edge city of El Alto at an elevation of 4,150m, and back again. Along the way you will witness the city’s disparities, between the wealthy and the precarious  suburbs. Then we will continue visiting the main square “Plaza Murillo”, the Witches’ market, where vendors sell llama fetuses and dried frogs for Aymara rituals, herbs for local medicine, as well as aphrodisiac formulas. Finally our transportation will drive us back to your hotel or if you prefer you can stay longer on your own, enjoying from the large variety of handicrafts they offer.

Day 3: La Paz - Sucre

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for the local flight to Sucre. In the afternoon at 14:00 you will have a guided visit. Sucre is the judicial capital of Bolivia, and it is often referred to as the “White City” due to the many old building painted in white color. You will visit the Museum of Indigenous Arts (ASUR), you will see the famous Tarabuco and Jalq’a weavings, the view point, the House of freedom, the main market and the main square.

Day 4: Sucre - Potosi

In the morning we will visit the dinosaur’s footprints (over 5000 of them). They are set just 5km from the city center. Discovered on the grounds of the local cement company, the footprints have been turned into a major tourist attraction with the creation of a dinosaur-themed park which includes a museum dedicated to the findings, and a collection of life-size dinosaur sculptures including the enormous Tyrannosaurus.

In the afternoon at 14:00 you will have assistance from our guide in order to travel with a local bus line from Sucre to Potosi.

Potosi is classified World Heritage of the UNESCO since 1987. In the XIX century when the silver mines produced fabulous wealth, Potosi became one of the largest and richest cities in South America with a population exceeding 200.000 people. Now a day the city preserves the characteristic of the Colonial time. Rest of the afternoon on your own.

Day 5: Potosi - Uyuni

In the morning at 09:00am you will have a guided visit of a cooperative mine and get a chance to see how the miners work moving backwards to the 16th century, when the region’s silver made Potosi the wealthiest city in the world. The tour allows you to experience the hard conditions that still exists today.

At 14:00 you will have assistance from our guide to take the local bus from Potosí to Uyuni, the rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 6:  Uyuni - Train Cemetery – Incahuasi Island

At 09:00am you will begin the journey by visiting the train cemetery, where you can see the remains of nineteenth and early 20th century steam locomotives. Then we continue to Colchani, which is the main plant for iodization of salt. Here we will see how the locals produce salt for human consumption. Then we drive on to the giant salt mirror. We will spend about one hour for a hike at Incahuasi Island located in the middle of the salt plains. You will see giant cacti and maybe the Andean rodent know as Viscacha. The island offers beautiful scenery and plenty of photo opportunities of the sunset right before getting back to your hotel.

Day 7: Uyuni - La Paz

In the morning at 07:00am arrival in the city of La Paz. Transfer to your hotel.
